This would be fun
This park has lots of flexible spaces. It can host farmers' markets, concerts, swap meets, poetry readings, cat obedience courses, whatever.
It also has some educational features disguised as fun things to do. The carousel illustrates the life of John Fremont with timelines, thematic rides, murals and music that was popular during his lifetime. The tot lot is also Fremont-themed, since the guy did all kinds of interesting stuff that little kids would certainly want to know about.
You can buy a magazine, surf the net (free wi-fi!), get a snack and sit wherever you want in the central area, since the seating is movable.
It's ecological, too. Solar panels on angled roofs offset carbon costs of the fountain and electical systems. Most of the lawn is gone, replaced by tree-shaded areas of crushed rock like in Southern Europe. Plant diversity is a lot higher too, thanks to beds of climate-adapted plants. There's still enough lawn for a bit of play, and maybe it can even be mowed with sheep so maintaining it is not such so polluting.
There are lots of flagpoles where people can raise their favorite banner during special events.
