Add spaces for markets and expos, space for scribbling around with chalk, a better stage for concerts, and get rid of all that lawn. Save some water!
This was a renovation for a local park, featuring a carousel depicting scenes from John Fremont's life. There was a covered market, vertical spaces for a chalk festival, ample lawn for people to gather and lots of planted areas to cut water use and showcase Mediterranean plants. A new stage would have made the park an entertainment center and gathering place. We kept the historic fountain, too.
Sometimes we don't need to go to New York to lose competitions. We can do that very well right here at home. We did get some free pizza out of the deal, at least.
